About

Macaulay “Mac” Szymanski is a sound artist with work in short films, and indie games from around the country. His strange combinations of Orchestral, and Electronic instruments create an innately unconventional sound, mixing flute with floppy disk motors; cello with singing birds, etc. Berklee College of Music allowed Macaulay a great opportunity to demonstrate a careful honing of auditory craft before launching into an industry of bleeps, bloops, and blips.

In 2016, he worked as a sound technician and sound designer on an award winning short film with I Oblivious at the Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival (HIMPFF), and continued on to create SFX, and music for the anticipated game, Clockbound EP: Over and Over to be released in 2018.

With a name that is rather hard to spell phonetically; Mac is from the fiery American southwest, studied in the ice-capped northeast, and currently resides in the constantly drizzly pacific northwest in Seattle, WA. This moving around has created a close personal, and professional relationship to music and games that has allowed Macaulay to perform in nifty concerts such as Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses in Feb 2015 and Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds in Apr 2015 both of which at Boston Symphony Hall. With PXL8, formerly the Video Game Music Choir, he was able to perform at PAX east in 2014, and again with the VGO at the Berklee Performance center later that year.
